Brooke and Patrick were married at Union Mills Homestead in Westminster, Md. on August 23. The bride looked radiant in a lace and tulle A-line gown featuring a V-neckline and a beaded silk sash. She wore her hair in a low vintage-inspired updo and carried a clean white and green bouquet. Her ‘maids donned mix-and-match blush dresses from various stores, and her “brides-man” donned a tan vested suit with a blush bow tie. The groom and his men opted for light gray suits and blush neck ties. “We both knew that our budget wouldn’t allow for a lavish ballroom event, but that wasn’t what was reflective of us as a couple anyhow,” Brooke explained. “We truly wanted a small, romantic, ceremony followed by a night of celebrating.” The pair tied the knot in a garden on the grounds of the homestead in front of 125 family members and friends. “It ended up raining on our wedding day, pouring, actually. . .the rain made the entire day and evening so magical and mystical, it felt like a real-life fairytale,” Brooked said of the day. A reception followed in the barn, which was decorated with vintage decor elements they had found in antique shops. Gold frames, mugs, and vases were just some of the things that transformed the rustic barn into a vintage space. Guests looked to a repurposed window pane to find their seats, where they ate barbecue and macaroni and cheese off of mismatched china. String lights and glowing marquee letters illuminated the space as friends and family danced the night away. Guests enjoyed an array of cupcakes for dessert. The couple was sent off into their new life with a sparkler exit! Brooke advises couples to do what works for them on their big day. “When it comes to your day, try not to get too caught up in traditions. We encountered so many instances in which doing ‘what everyone else did’ just didn’t fit for our day,” she said. See the full board here.
